Spring in the New Forest

Spring foal

New life is everywhere from the bursting open of buds on trees to new born foals on the Open Forest. Remember it is important not to touch or feed the ponies as this can harm them and cause them to become agressive, especially when there are foals around!

Spring is a great time to spot reptiles such as the adder basking in the sunshine. It is also a time for nesting birds and hatching chicks. At this time of year it is important to stay on footpaths and keep dogs under close control as some species of birds, like the curlew, actually nest on the ground!
